National Instruments 788101-01 LCR Meter and Source Measure Unit

The National Instruments 788101-01 is a versatile LCR meter and source measure unit (SMU). It is also known as the PXIe-4190 unit and is designed for precise electronic testing and measurement. This module is engineered to measure inductance, capacitance, and resistance (LCR) with exceptional accuracy. It makes it an essential tool for semiconductor applications like integrated passive devices (IPD), microelectromechanical systems (MEMs), and multi-layer ceramic capacitors (MLCC). The 788101-01 module also excels in capacitance-voltage (CV) and current-voltage (IV) automated test systems.

The LCR meter component of the 788101-01 supports a wide range of measurements. It include capacitors from 100 fF to 5 mF with up to 100 aF sensitivity, inductors greater than 10 nH with 10 pH sensitivity, and resistors from 100 mΩ to 1 GΩ with 10 µΩ sensitivity. It operates over an AC stimulus frequency range from 40 Hz to 500 kHz along with a maximum AC voltage of 7.07 V RMS and an AC current of 70.7 mA RMS. The unit is also capable of applying DC bias voltages up to ±10 V and currents up to ±100 mA.

The SMU function of the 788101-01 offers precise voltage and current sourcing. Its ranges include 1 V to 40 V for voltage and 1 nA to 100 mA for current. This feature is essential for detailed analysis in semiconductor testing to ensure that devices under test receive accurate and stable input signals. The module's noise performance is optimized along with wideband source noise below 20 mV peak-to-peak. The SMU also supports remote sensing while reducing errors due to lead resistance and voltage drops.

The NI 788101-01 module features robust protection mechanisms that includes automatic output disable in the event of overvoltage, overcurrent, or overtemperature conditions. This ensures the longevity and reliability of both the device and the equipment under test. The unit as the dimensions of 2.0 cm x 13.0 cm x 21.6 cm (0.8 in. x 5.1 in. x 8.5 in.) and weighs only 481 g (17.1 oz.). The 788101-01 module meets rigorous environmental and safety standards. One year calibration interval is recommended for this LCR meter and SMU module.
