National Instruments PXI-2531 PXI Matrix Switch Module

The National Instruments PXI-2531 (Part Number: 778572-31) is a high-density, 1-Wire, 512 Crosspoint PXI Matrix Switch Module designed for automated test systems requiring a high-channel-count configuration. The NI PXI-2531 utilizes compact, high-speed reed relays, which are capable of switching at up to 4000 cycles per second (0.25 ms relay operate time). Users can configure the module into multiple topologies, including a 1-wire dual 4 × 64 matrix, 1-wire dual 8 × 32 matrix, 1-wire 8 × 64 matrix, and 1-wire 4 × 128 matrix.

The NI PXI-2531 provides a maximum switching or carry current of 0.5 A and a maximum switching power of 10 W per channel. When terminated with 50 Ω, this module features a typical bandwidth of ≥20 MHz, with channel-to-channel crosstalk of -70 dB at 10 kHz and 100 kHz, -58 dB at 1 MHz, and -38 dB at 10 MHz. The switch module is equipped with two 150-position Samtec ERM8 Series I/O connectors.

The PXI-2531 can simultaneously drive up to 40 relays in a PXI chassis and up to 64 relays in a PXI Express chassis. The relay operate and release times are both 0.25 ms, ensuring fast switching performance. This matrix switch module receives trigger signals through PXI trigger lines (0 to 7) at a minimum pulse width of 150 ns and outputs trigger signals via the same PXI trigger lines with a programmable pulse width ranging from 1 µs to 62 µs.

This module operates on Standard PXI slots only and is not compatible with Hybrid or PXIe-only slots.
