National Instruments PXI-2532B PXI Matrix Switch Module

The NI PXI-2532B (Part Number: 782383-01) is a 512-crosspoint high-speed Matrix Switch Module designed for high-density switching applications. With one of the largest matrix configurations available in a 3U PXI slot, the NI PXI-2532B provides high-channel-count switching solutions within the PXI platform. It supports matrix configurations up to 4×128 or 8×64 in a single module, with the ability to create larger configurations through multi-chassis expansion. This makes the PXI-2532B an ideal choice for automated test setups requiring a large number of connections.

The PXI-2532B features compact reed relays, capable of switching speeds up to 2,000 cycles per second and synchronizing with other instruments, ensuring maximum throughput in a test system. The module supports signals up to 100 VDC/100 Vp or 0.5 A, with a maximum switching power of 10 W per channel. It also has a channel-to-channel and channel-to-ground maximum switching voltage of 100 V (CAT I rating).

For applications requiring larger matrix sizes than the standard NI PXI-2532B configurations, users can interconnect multiple modules using the NI R1616 expansion link and TB-264xB terminal blocks. For example, a 4×256 one-wire matrix can be created using two PXI-2532B modules, two TB-2640B terminal blocks, and one R1616 expansion cable connecting the terminal blocks.

The PXI-2532B supports a simultaneous drive limit of 40 relays, with a mechanical relay lifespan of 1×10⁹ cycles. Electrical relay life varies depending on load conditions, ranging from 1×10⁷ cycles (10 V, 100 mA) to 5×10⁵ cycles (100 V, 10 mA). The module is equipped with two Samtec ERM8-EM series I/O connectors for high-density signal connections.

This matrix switch module is ideal for high-channel-count applications, where measurement or signal generation instruments must be connected to multiple test points on devices under test (DUTs/UUTs). The PXI-2532B is highly versatile, offering more than 10 matrix topology configurations through various terminal block accessories, making it one of the most adaptable PXI switch modules available.
