The 4-channel Source Measure Unit (SMU) 781743-01, often known as the PXIe-4141, was created by National Instruments. With its 4-quadrant operation and integrated remote (4-wire) sensing for each channel, this high-precision instrument is ideal for applications requiring a large pin count. The 781743-01's rapid sample rate allows for quicker I-V characterisation of devices under test (DUTs) by cutting down on measurement times and capturing transient device characteristics. While SourceAdapt technology allows you to fine-tune the 781743-01 response to any load for optimal stability and fewest transients, the high-speed sequencing engine enables synchronization with other instruments like switches or high-speed digital test modules.
When tuned for a quick transient response, this SMU has a settling period of less than 100 μs to settle to 0.1% of a voltage step. After changing the load current from 10% to 90% of its range, its transient response similarly returns to normal in less than 20 mV. It guarantees accurate and clean measurements with a wideband source noise of 1.5 mV RMS and less than 20 mV peak-to-peak. Usually, the output impedance of the cable protector is 10 kΩ.
In terms of remote sensing, the current accuracy specification adds 0.02% of range per volt of total HI and LO lead drop, with a maximum lead drop of up to 1 V per lead, while the voltage accuracy specification adds 0.1% of the LO lead drop. The load regulation is 20 pA + 10 ppm of range per volt of output change, and 10 μV at connector pins per mA of output load utilizing local sense.
Operating temperatures for the 781743-01 range from 0 to 55 degrees Celsius, while storage temperatures go from -40 to 70 degrees Celsius.
