National Instruments 782430-01 4-Channel PXI Source Measure Unit

The National Instruments 782430-01 is a 4-channel PXI Source Measure Unit (SMU) developed for high-pin-count applications. It is also known as the PXIe-4142 unit and features 4-quadrant operation that enables it to source and sink current in four quadrants. Each channel is equipped with integrated remote (4-wire) sensing to ensure accurate measurements by compensating for lead resistance.

The NI 782430-01 supports DC voltage ranges up to ±24 V and multiple current source and sink ranges such as 10 μA, 100 μA, 1 mA, 10 mA, and 150 mA. The channels share a common low (LO) but are isolated from earth ground. Voltage programming and measurement accuracy are high along with a 24 V range offering a resolution of 200 μV and accuracy of 0.1% + 10 mV. Key features of the 782430-01 SMU include a fast settling time of less than 100 μs to stabilize within 0.1% of a voltage step. The transient response is under 100 μs to recover within ±20 mV after a significant load change. It exhibits low wideband source noise (at 2 mV RMS) that ensure clean signal generation and measurement. The remote sensing capability adds 0.1% of the LO lead drop to voltage accuracy and 0.03% of the range per volt of HI and LO lead drop to current accuracy while supporting up to a 1 V drop per lead.

The NI 782430-01 ensures stable operation with an isolation voltage of 60 VDC channel-to-earth ground (verified by a dielectric withstand test). It supports a maximum measurement rate to the host of 600,000 S/s per channel continuously, and the maximum source update rate is 100,000 updates/s per channel for sequences shorter than 300 steps. The 782430-01 SMU features a variety of input and output trigger types that support complex test sequencing and synchronization with other instruments. It is a 3U, one-slot PXI Express/CompactPCI Express module that weighs only 412 g. It also comes with a 25-position D-SUB male front panel connector. It requires 2 A from the 12 V rail and 1.9 A from the 3.3 V rail. This SMU module is designed to be used under the temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C and it can be stored -40 °C to 70 °C temperature range. It can operate at the maximum altitude of 2,000 meters above sea level.
