The PXIe-4138 (Part Number: 782856-01) is a high-power, high-precision, and high-speed Source Measure Unit (SMU) designed for a wide range of applications, including manufacturing test and characterization. This single-channel SMU combines a digital control loop design with precision components to enable voltage-controlled or current-controlled sourcing while simultaneously measuring voltage and current output.

One key advantage of the PXIe-4138’s digital control loop architecture is its ability to provide programmable regulation for fast transient response and stability adjustments, ensuring optimal performance across varying load conditions. It can operate in constant voltage (CV) mode or constant current (CC) mode, where it accurately regulates either voltage or current while limiting the complementary parameter.

The PXIe-4138 supports local and remote sense measurement modes. The integrating ADCs provide simultaneous voltage and current readings at the output or remote sense terminals, ensuring accurate power delivery and load compensation. The NI-DCPower driver software supports LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, Microsoft Visual Studio (C, C++), and Python via the NI-DCPower API.

This SMU has a recommended operating temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C, a storage temperature range of -40 °C to 70 °C, and can withstand up to 30 g peak operating shock and 0.3 grms random vibration (5 Hz to 500 Hz).
