National Instruments PXIe-4144 PXI Source Measure Unit

The PXIe-4144 (Part Number: 782432-01) from National Instruments is a High Speed PXI Source Measure Unit with 4 SMU channels. Based on the modular PXI architecture, this SMU is designed with features that shorten test execution times. Source Measure Units like the PXIe-4144 from NI are capable of being integrated with additional hardware- including oscilloscopes, RF generators and analyzers. This device allows the user to create systems that test several devices simultaneously, increasing the throughput of each tester with flexibility and increased channel density. The front panel connectors featured by this Source Measure Unit are 25-Position Male D-SUB connectors.

The input trigger types of the PXIe-4144 are Start, Source, Sequence Advance, and Measure. The polarity of of these sources (trigger lines 0 - 7) is configurable, with a nominal minimum pulse width of 100 ns. On the other hand, the destinations for these trigger lines are not configurable, but have an active high polarity. The minimum pulse width for the destinations is nominal and >200 ns. In terms of measurement and update timing features, the PXIe-4144 SMU has available sample rates calculated by the formula (600 kS/s)/N. The accuracy of the sample rate is ±50 ppm, with a continuous maximum measure rate to host of 600,000 S/s per channel.

The PXI Express power requirement for the PXIe-4144 differs depending on the voltage rail. A 12 V rail gives 2.1 A of power, while a 3.3 V rail is for 2.9 A of required power.

Designed as a one slot PXI Express/CompactPCI Express module, this device measures dimensions of 0.8 in. × 5.1 in. × 8.5 in. (2.0 cm × 13.0 cm × 21.6 cm) and weighs in at 14.39 oz (408 g). When operational, the PXIe-4144 has a temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C with a noncondensing relative humidity range of 10% to 70%. When not being used, the device has an ambient storage range of -40 °C to 70 ºC with a noncondensing relative humidity range spanning from 5% to 95%.
