The National Instruments 785116-01 is also known as the PXIe-5423. It is a 2-channel arbitrary waveform generator designed to meet a wide range of signal generation needs. It operates with a maximum frequency of 40 MHz. This instrument can generate both standard functions such as sine, square, triangle, and ramp waveforms and user defined arbitrary waveforms. The generator supports a wide amplitude range that delivers signals from 0.00775 Vpk-pk to 12 Vpk-pk when connected to a 50 Ω load and up to 24 Vpk-pk in an open load configuration.
The 785116-01 features a high resolution 16 bit DAC that ensures precise amplitude adjustments in 0.16 dB steps. The output is referenced single ended with a 50 Ω impedance and is capable of compensating for user specified load impedances. DC accuracy is maintained within ± 0.35 % of the amplitude range near the calibration temperature along with AC amplitude accuracy of ± 1.0 % across the operational range. This waveform generator includes features such as waveform scripting and streaming that allow for complex signal sequences and real time waveform modifications. This generator can store up to 128 MB of waveform data per channel that facilitates extensive and detailed waveform creation. The waveform memory supports a range of 2 to 64 million samples and the sample rate can be adjusted from 5.6 MS/s to 200 MS/s with the digital filter enabled.
The NI 785116-01 offers a stable reference clock source with an initial calibrated accuracy of 1.5 ppm. The synchronization capabilities extend to multi channel configurations with channel to channel skew maintained at ± 110 ps for signals under 2.75 Vpk-pk.
