National Instruments PXI-5401 Arbitrary Function Generator
Featured with 12-bit Amplitude Resolution and 9.31 mHz Frequency Resolution, the National Instruments NI PXI-5401 (Part Number: 777950-01) is a 16 MHz Arbitrary Function Generator. This model offers Frequency hopping, 4 triggering modes, software selectable 50 or 75 Ω output impedance, 16 MHz sine wave, and 1 MHz triangle, square, ramp waveforms. With this model, the user has the option to combine the flexibility of a PC with the power of a stand-alone function generator. It has a maximum update rate of 40 MHz. The NI PXI-5401 utilizes a 32-bit direct digital synthesis (DDS) to generate repetitive in nature, standard waveforms precisely. It is equipped with an external trigger input, a Real-Time System Integration (RTSI) and PXI triggers.
This Function Generator offers the storage of 16,384 waveforms and 512 frequency steps in its instruction FIFO memory. The minimum frequency resolution it can handle is 9.31 mHz. To maximum dynamic range, the analog voltages generated by the integrated 12-bit DAC of the PXI-5401 pass through an amplification/attenuation and lowpass filter scheme. The NI PXI 5401 offers a SYNC Output, which is a TTL version of the sine wave produced by the Digital-Analog-Converter and has a frequency of 16 MHz (max). For access to the external trigger input and PLL reference signal, this module comes equipped with two SMB type connectors. The PXI 5401 has power requirements of 3.5 A at 5 V, and 125 mA at 12 V.
The National Instruments PXI-5401 come with a state-of-the-art Sources Soft Front Panel (SFP) that can be used for interactive controlling of the device. The Sources SFP enables the user to generate arbitrary and standard waveforms with frequency and amplitude control. Also, the Sources SFP can be utilized for setting the sequential output with various triggering modes.
The PXI-5401 is run using the NI-FGEN driver software which can be programmed with software packages or application development environments (ADEs) such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, C, C++, ComponentWorks, and Visual Basic. The NI device measures 6.3 x 3.9 in. in physical dimensions.
PXI-5401 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but will be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
