National Instruments PXI-5422 Waveform Generator
The NI PXI-5422 is equipped for performing self-calibration, which alters the gain and counterbalance of the fundamental and direct analog paths. Self-calibration only uses a locally available A/D converter (ADC) to quantify the output voltage. The user can execute self-calibration on the NI PXI-5422 by following strategies like verifying the DC Gain and Offset Accuracy and adjusting the Analog Output systems. This model comes in four presentations: the PXI-5422 with 8 MB memory (part number: 779087-01), 32 MB memory (part number: 779087-02), 256 MB memory (part number: 779087-03), and 512 MB memory (part number: 779087-04). The device has a maximum bandwidth of 80 MHz, with a maximum update rate of 200 MS/s.
The instrument operates using the NI-FGEN driver software which is installed from the NI-FGEN DVD. The DVD also contains the FGEN Soft Front Panel which is essential to handling the signal generator. The software installation can begin automatically on insertion of the NI-FGEN DVD.However, in the event that the user is developing an application for the generator, an ADE such as LabVIEW or LabWindows/CVI is required. Also, configuration of the software can be carried out using the Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) tool.
The NI PXI-5422 has 5 I/O connectors: the CH 0, CLK IN (SMB jack), PFI 0 (SMB jack), PFI 1 (SMB jack), DIGITAL DATA & CONTROL connectors (68-pin VHDCI female receptacle).
This waveform generator acknowledges an outside PLL Reference Clock and can phase-lock the inside Sample Time-base Clock to the outer Reference Clock. The signal on this connector can also be utilized as a Sample Clock source. This model acknowledges a trigger from an outside source and can begin or step through waveform generation or course signals from a few clock, event, and trigger sources. It routes the 16-bit digital patter outputs, computerized pattern clock output, trigger outputs, trigger sources of inputs, and a clock input.
December 28, 2023 was the Last Time Buy Date for the PXI-5422 from National Instruments. While it is no longer available from the manufacturer, the waveform generator will remain available for both purchase and repairs in perpetuity with Apex Waves.
