National Instruments 783201-01 Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Device

The National Instruments 783201-01 Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Device is designed for high performance data acquisition and control applications. It is also known as USB‑7846R. The model features a user-programmable Kintex-7 160T FPGA that allows real time processing and control of I/O signals. This flexibility makes it ideal for precise timing and synchronization tasks, such as hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, sensor simulation and custom protocol communication. With the LabVIEW FPGA module users can program the device to meet custom application requirements.

The 783201-01 device includes 8 analog input channels each with a dedicated successive approximation register (SAR) A/D converter. The channels provide 16-bit resolution and a maximum sampling rate of 500 kS/s per channel. The analog inputs support differential (DIFF), non-referenced single-ended (NRSE) and referenced single-ended (RSE) modes. Input signal ranges are software-selectable with options from ± 1 V to ± 10 V and overvoltage protection up to ± 42 V when powered on. 

With a maximum update rate of 1 MS/s and 8 analog output channels with 16-bit resolution, the NI 783201-01 device is available. The range of the analog outputs is ± 10 V. For control systems or sensor simulation, this offers precise signal creation. Protection against overvoltage and short circuits ensures reliable operation. The power-on state of the analog output channels is user-configurable.

The 783201-01 model’s digital I/O capabilities include 32 channels on Connector 0 and 16 channels on Connector 1 supporting frequencies up to 80 MHz and 10 MHz, respectively. The device supports LVTTL and LVCMOS logic families with user-selectable voltage levels. Digital inputs and outputs offer low impedance and leakage current with protection against overvoltage up to ± 20 V on each channel.

With a maximum power consumption of 20 W, this multifunction reconfigurable I/O device functions throughout the input voltage range of 9 V to 30 V. The 783201-01 device can tolerate storage temperatures as low as -40 °C and is rated for an operational temperature range of -40 °C to 70 °C. It can accommodate operational humidity levels between 10% and 90% RH and storage humidity levels up to 95% RH. The device weighs 1,000 grams and measures 18.5 cm by 17.3 cm by 3.6 cm.
