National Instruments 785359-01 Reconfigurable Digital I/O Device

The National Instruments 785359-01 is a high performance R-series reconfigurable digital I/O device. It is also identified as PCle-7821R. It features a user-programmable Kintex-7 160T FPGA which enables onboard processing and flexible I/O operation. This 785359-01 device is ideal for applications like sensor simulation, high-speed waveform generation, and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing.

The 785359-01 has four connectors, each supporting 32 channels, with a maximum frequency of 80 MHz. It is compatible with LVTTL and LVCMOS logic families and offers a software-selectable logic level, defaulting to 3.3 V. Input and output logic levels vary with voltage. The NI 785359-01 includes a reconfigurable FPGA (Kintex-7 160T) with 202,800 flip-flops, 101,400 LUTs, 11,700 kbits of embedded Block RAM, and 600 DSP48 slices. It supports various timebases from 40 MHz to 200 MHz, with a default of 40 MHz. Data transfers are facilitated through DMA, interrupts, and programmed I/O, with onboard DRAM of 512 MB offering the maximum data rate of 800 MB/s.

Synchronization resources include RTSI <0..7> input/output sources. The device's interfaces with the bus via x4 PCI Express slot that offers x8, and x16 PCI Express slots compatibility. It also features 16 DMA channels that enhances the data transfer efficiency. Power requirements are influenced by digital output loads and LabVIEW FPGA VI configurations, drawing 3 A at +3.3 V and 2 A at +12 V. The device measures 18.1 cm × 12.6 cm × 2.2 cm and weighs 158 g. It has four 68-pin VHDCI I/O connectors.
