The National Instruments 786672-01 (PXIe-7862) PXI Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Module offers a highly flexible and powerful solution for advanced data acquisition and control applications. This module is equipped with a user programmable Kintex-7 325T FPGA that allows for customized processing and direct control of I/O signals. It features 16 analog input channels each connected to an independent A/D converter (ADC). This architecture supports multirate sampling that makes it suitable for applications requiring fine control over timing and synchronization such as hardware-in-the-loop testing, custom protocol communication, sensor simulation and high speed control.
The NI 786672-01 module features 32 digital I/O channels divided into two connectors each capable of operating at frequencies up to 10 MHz. These channels support LVTTL and LVCMOS logic levels with programmable direction control and protection features to ensure robust operation in various digital interfacing applications. The analog input channels offer a maximum sampling rate of 1 MS/s per channel with 16 bit resolution for accurate data acquisition. The input signal range is software selectable with options of ± 1 V, ± 2 V, ± 5 V, and ± 10 V. The input impedance varies depending on the module’s power state and the module provides overvoltage protection as well.

The output range is fixed at ± 10 V with the module offering protection against short circuits and overvoltage conditions. The outputs are driven by an enhanced R-2R DAC that ensures accurate and stable voltage outputs which are essential for precise control applications. The module’s low output impedance and high current drive capability further enhance its suitability for demanding control tasks.The module’s reconfigurable FPGA is complemented by onboard DRA that enables high speed data streaming with a maximum theoretical rate of 800 MB/s.
