The National Instruments 787354-01 or PXIe-7866 is a versatile PXI Express Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Module that is equipped with a Kintex-7 325T FPGA for advanced onboard processing and flexible control over I/O signals. This module is designed to support a wide range of applications that includes hardware-in-the-loop testing, custom protocol communication, sensor simulation and high speed control.
This 787354-01 module features 24 analog output channels, 2 analog input channels and 32 digital I/O channels. The analog inputs offer a maximum sampling rate of 1 MS/s per channel with a 16 bit resolution. They support differential, non referenced single ended and referenced single ended input modes. This multifunction reconfigurable I/O module provides multiple input signal ranges (± 1 V, ±2 V, ± 5 V, ± 10 V) and includes overvoltage protection up to ± 42 V when powered on. The analog outputs are single ended voltage outputs with a ± 10 V range and a 16 bit resolution. They are capable of a maximum update rate of 1 MS/s. The outputs are protected against short circuits to ground and have overvoltage protection up to ± 15 V.
The digital I/O channels are TTL, LVTTL and LVCMOS compatible with each channel supporting a maximum frequency of 20 MHz. The digital inputs and outputs operate at 5 V and 3.3 V logic levels. The module allows per channel direction control and features programmable power on states that add flexibility in digital signal management.
The FPGA-based architecture of the NI 787354-01 provides significant reconfigurability with 407,600 flip-flops, 203,800 LUTs, 16,020 kbits of Block RAM and 840 DSP48 slices.
The module also includes 512 MB of onboard DRAM for high speed data processing and transfer and supporting a maximum theoretical data rate of 800 MB/s. The FPGA operates with a default timebase of 40 MHz but can switch to higher timebases up to 200 MHz. The power requirements for the 787354-01 module include +3.3 V at 2.25 A and +12 V at 1.65 A. The module measures 21.4 cm × 13.0 cm × 2.1 cm (8.43 in. × 5.12 in. × 0.83 in.) and weighs approximately 177.6 g (6.26 oz). The module connects through three 68-pin VHDCI connectors and meets rigorous safety and electromagnetic compatibility standards including IEC 61010-1 and EN 61326-1.
