The USB-7856R Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Device is a preferable choice in applications involving fast controls and minute precision of timing. The NI USB-7856R features 8 analog input and output channels with a 16-bit analog to digital (ADC) resolution. A maximum sampling rate of 1 MS/s per channel can be achieved using the USB-7856R device. Moreover, the National Instruments USB-7856R Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Device has 48 digital I/O channels divided into two connectors. The connector with 32 digital channels can reach a maximum frequency of 80 MHz, while the 16-channel connector can perform at 10 MHz maximum.
The NI USB-7856R is designed to perform reconfigurable and multifunction applications when incorporated with the user-programmable Kintex-7 160T FPGA. The Kintex-7 160T FPGA on the USB-7856R features 600 DSP48 slices, 101,400 LUTs, 202,800 flip-flops, and 11,700 kbit/s BRAM. The data transfer can be accomplished via programmed I/O as well as DMA. The USB-7856R Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Device contains 3 DMA channels to transfer data. It consumes 20 W of power during operation. This I/O device requires an input voltage between 9 V to 30 V for energization. The overvoltage protection of the NI USB-7856R is designed for 40 V at the input voltage terminal. The maximum working voltage of the USB-7856R Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Device is ±12 V between channel and earth and ±24 V between two channels.
