National Instruments 776574-492 Shielded Cable Adapter

Part Number 776574-492 is the identifying part number for the National Instruments SCXI-1349 Shielded Cable Adapter. This adapter is used to connect an SCXI module to 68-pin E Series DAQ devices. However, it cannot be used with SCXI switch modules and 61XXE series devices. 

The 776574-492 ships as a connector assembly featuring connectors: a 68-pin male connector on the front panel of the adapter, a 50-pin male breakout connector on the printed-circuit board of the adapter, and a 50-pin bracket-mounted female connector on the rear of the adapter. 

The 776574-492 has a maximum working voltage of 30 Vrms, 42 Vpk, 60 VDC. Note that the maximum working voltage is the sum of signal and common-mode voltages. Most importantly, the user must be aware that connections exceeding this rating can create shocks and fire hazards as well as damage any or all the connected devices including the host computer. Similarly, when working with higher voltages, all the signal connections must be insulated with the highest voltage that the adapter can come into contact with.

Furthermore, to avoid damage to both the device and the operator, you must always follow the official safety guidelines and never operate damaged or modified equipment. The 776574-492 is recommended for operation in between temperatures of 0 to 50 °C at a relative humidity of –20 to 70 °C. Likewise, it is only approved for use up to a maximum altitude of 2000 m and under Installation Category I. The adapter meets the requirements of the safety standards  IEC 61010-1, UL 3111-1, and CAN/CSA C22.2 No.1010.1 for electrical measuring and test equipment. 

To use the 776574-492 with a compatible SCXI module and a DAQ device, you must first turn off the power and unplug the SCXI chassis. Then, the required SCXI modules are installed into the chassis. After this, the SCXI module that is to be connected to the cable adapter is identified. The 50-pin female connector on the cable adapter is then connected to the 50-pin male connector on the rear of the suitable SCXI module. At last, you connect either end of the 68-pin shielded cable to the cable adapter.
