National Instruments SCXI-1120 Analog Input Module

The NI SCXI 1120 (Part Number: 776572-20, 181695G-01) is an ideal affordable solution for the signal conditioning and isolation of several signal types, including: thermocouple, current, volt, millivolt signals, and 4 to 20 mA sources or 0 to 20 mA process-current sources with high common-mode voltages. The SCXI-1120 can also measure strain gauges, RTDs, and thermistors if external excitation is used. This module has eight isolated input channels with 250 Vrms working isolation, along with a few different input ranges. The channels can be separately configured via jumpers. Each of the eight channels additionally has a configurable lowpass filter of 4 Hz or 10 kHz. This Analog Input Module also has a parallel mode operation for high scanning rates. Each of its 8 analog input channels has a gain stage with gains of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 250, 500, 1,000, and 2,000; and an output range of ±5 V.

To begin using the NI SCXI-1120, the user needs a computer, a DAQ Device or the SCXI-1200, and either an SCXI-1000, SCXI-1000DC, SCXI-1001, or SCXI-2000 Chassis. The user can also optionally utilize an SCXI terminal block/connector assembly. The SCXI-1120 module has two output modes: parallel-output mode with all eight input channels linked in parallel to eight DAQ device channels or multiplexed-output mode with the eight channels multiplexed into one DAQ device channel. The device is equipped with a 50-pin male ribbon-cable rear connector, and a 32-pin DIN C male front connector (an 18-screw terminal adapter is available). It has an operating temperature of 0 to 50 °C.

For Revision A and B of the SCXI-1120 Analog Input Module, jumper W42 is not utilized. When Revision A and B of the module are cabled to a DAQ device, then the user can only access the MISO line in a single chassis. For Revision C and later of the SCXI-1120, jumpers W42 and W43 can be left in position 1. The device has the dimensions: 1.2 x 6.8 x 8.0 in.

SCXI-1120 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the module will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
