The SCXI-1200 is a 12-bit National Instruments Data Acquisition and Control Module, which performs like a Lab-PC+ multifunction analog, digital, and timing I/O plug-in board. This module communicates with a PC through parallel ports and can work in conjunction with other SCXI systems. The NI SCXI-1200 has eight single-ended analog input channels, which can be configured as four differential channels.
The SCXI-1200 can operate in a single-chassis system to control the operation of other SCXI modules. It also digitizes their conditioned analog signals. This module has three different input modes. Referenced (RSE) single-ended input and non-referenced (NRSE) single-ended input use eight channels. The differential (DIFF) uses four channels. The NI SCXI-1200 module has 2 analog output voltage channels. Both output channels of this module are single-ended. These channels are present at the I/O connector. The user can select the analog input of this module for a unipolar range of 0 V to 10 V or for a bipolar range of -5 V to + 5 V (Volts). Additionally, the device has 32 digital I/O channels with a TTL compatibility.
The National Instruments SCXI-1200 Data Acquisition and Control Module includes an overload protection system with a protection of ±42 V when it is powered on and a protection of ±15 V when it is powered off. This module offers 12-bit resolution measurements. The offset error before calibration is ±50 mV maximum. The offset error after calibration is ±0.2 mV maximum. The gain error before calibration is ±1% and after calibration it is ±0.004% of the reading. The voltage output range is 0 to +10V and ±5V.
The SCXI-1200 is run using the NI-DAQmx driver software which is compatible with software packages/application development environments (ADEs) such as LabVIEW or LabWindows/CVI. The device is equipped with a 50-pin male ribbon-cable front connector and a 25-pin female centronics type B rear connector.
The SCXI-1200 measures 3.0 x 17.3 x 20.3 cm in physical dimensions. It has a recommended operating temperature of 0° to 70° C, a storage temperature range of -55° to 150° C, and a non-condensing relative humidity range of 5% to 90%.
