National Instruments SCXI-1521B Strain/Bridge Input Module
The NI SCXI-1521B (Part Number: 777966-21B) module is well-suited for applications with a large quantity of channels, including static and fatigue structural tests with 120 Ω quarter-bridge strain gauges. Every channel has a fixed-gain amplifier and fixed 2-pole Butterworth filter for exact measurements. There is additionally an individual 0-5 V programmable excitation source for every channel. The software types which can be used with this module are the NI-DAQmx 7.3 or later and either LabVIEW or LabWindows/CVI.
The SCXI-1317 Front-Mounting Terminal Block with screw terminals is necessary to operate the SCXI 1521B module. Other accessories that can be used with the SCXI-1521B are the SCXI-1310 Connector and Shell Assembly and the TBX-96 DIN-rail Mounted Terminal Block. The SCXI-1310 offers 96 eyelet terminals for simple hook-and-solder signal linking, as well as custom mass termination linking. The TBX-96 has 96 standard screw terminals and requires a cable to be linked to the Strain/Bridge Input Module. The SH96-96 shielded 1 m cable or the R96-96 1 m unshielded cable will suffice.
The front signal connector on the NI SCXI-1521B is a distinct 96-pin DIN C male connector. This connector is the one used for all signal connections. When referencing the pin-out for this module, the pins branded RSVD are reserved. The user cannot make connections to the RSVD pins under any circumstances. Other labels for the pins include EX + X which links to the sensor excitation, QTR X which links to the quarter-bridge completion resistor, and AI X which links to the amplifier terminal. X refers to the channel number.
SCXI-1521B Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the module will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
