National Instruments SET-1215 SLSC RTD Simulation Module

The SET-1215 (part number: 787759-01) from National Instruments is a highly accurate RTD Simulation Board with 16 galvanic isolated channels. Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTDs) such as the SET-1215 are designed to simulate hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), automotive, and aerospace applications. With an accuracy of up to 1°C, the simulation module ranges from 90Ω to 4100Ω depending on the use case. Each of the sixteen channels of the device are capable of being combined in order to create 2- and 4-terminal sensor systems. In addition, these channels are each able to replicate typical open and short circuit scenarios. The simulation resolution of the module can be configured as either PT100 or PT1000.

Customizability is key for the SET-1215, which boasts two plug-in module slots that allow for easy connection with features such as instrument connection and line fault insertion. The module features two LEDs which offer quick visual insight into the power (PWR) and the Ready (RDY) Status of the device. When the Power LED displays a solid green color, it indicates that the device is in a good power state. If the LED is off, it means that there is no power present, and the power supply should be examined. If the Power LED is a blinking red color, it signals an issue with either the fuse or the plugin module on the board. The Ready LED displays an amber color when the module is communicating with the chassis, and is a solid green when the module has been recognized by the chassis.

Designed to withstand a wide range of environmental factors, the SET-1215 can be operated in altitudes up to 2,000m. When used in conjunction with forced-air cooling from the chassis, the operating temperature of the simulation module ranges from 0 to 40 °C. During operation, the SET-1215 has a relative noncondensing humidity ranging from 10% to 90%. When non-operational, the device has an even wider storage temperature range that spans from -40 to 85 °C. The relative storage humidity is also noncondensing, and it ranges from 5% to 95%.
