National Instruments UMI-7774 Universal Motion Interface
The National Instruments UMI-7774 (Part Number: 778558-01, 188457F-01) is a standalone, 4-axis, connectivity accessory designed to be coupled with NI 73xx series motion controllers. Ideally suited to laboratory and industrial applications the NI UMI-7774 connects servo drivers, stepper drivers or digital and feedback I/O to NI motion controllers. This model can be used with a broad range of drives designed for various types of actuators or motors and power ranges. Thus, the National Instruments UMI-7774 is an ideal option available for systems where a single or multiple third-party drivers are to be used. The device is equipped with a 68-pin motion I/O connector.
This connectivity accessory comes with a dedicated control and feedback connector for each axis. This results in simplification of field wiring. With this part, you will be able to connect as many as eight digital inputs and outputs to your controller through a separate interface cable. For additional safety, a power interlock is also provided that disables the drive automatically when the motion interface cable is disconnected, or the host computer is shut down. This model offers instant, global shutdown of all axes through global stop inputs. It is equipped with a reverse polarity protection of -30 V, and can detect a minimum pulse of 10 µs. National Instruments offers SHC68-C68-S cables for connecting the UMI-7774 to a motion controller, and a custom cable for connecting the device to a third-party drive.
The NI UMI-7774 is rack, DIN rail or panel mountable. So, you can mount this accessory unit on a 35 mm DIN rail, in a standard in inches rack or on a panel. The front panel of this universal motion interface comes with all the required interfaces. For four-axis, four separate feedback and control connectors are provided. Moreover, analog input, global stop, and power connectors are also available on the front panel of the device. The quadrature and incremental input device has a maximum quadrature frequency of 20 MHz, and has a maximum pulse rate of 100 KHz. It weighs 2.5 lbs., with the dimensions: 10.2 x 5 x 0.87 in, and has a recommended operating temperature of 0 to 55 °C.
