National Instruments 783926-01 Software Defined Radio Device

The National Instruments 783926-01 or USRP-2950R is a versatile Software Defined Radio (SDR) device designed for a wide range of wireless communication applications. It features dual transmitter and receiver channels each covering a frequency range from 50 MHz to 2.2 GHz. The frequency step is less than 1 kHz that allows for precise tuning across this broad range. The output power ranges for transmission between 50 MHz and 1.2 GHz, ranging from 50 mW to 100 mW (17 dBm to 20 dBm), and between 1.2 GHz and 2.2 GHz, from 30 mW to 70 mW (15 dBm to 18 dBm). There is a gain control range of 0 dB to 31 dB in steps of 1 dB.

This SDR device supports two significant bandwidth configurations: 40 MHz and 120 MHz with a maximum I/Q sample rate of 200 MS/s. It's high-performance Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) has an 80 dB spurious-free dynamic range (sFDR) and 16-bit resolution. The receiver section also offers high performance with a gain range of 0 dB to 37.5 dB adjustable in 0.5 dB steps. The receiver’s noise figure is 5 dB to 7 dB. Like the transmitter, the receiver covers the same frequency range of 50 MHz to 2.2 GHz with a frequency step below 1 kHz. The Analog to Digital Converter (ADC) in the receiver has a 14-bit resolution and an sFDR of 88 dB.

The 783926-01 device has a GPS disciplined oscillator (GPSDO) which allows users to synchronize the internal clocks with a GPS reference signal. For applications that need accurate timing or geolocation data, this functionality improves the device's synchronization of timing and location information. The device includes 1 GB of onboard DRAM. This provides ample memory for data processing in real time applications.

The NI 783926-01 device requires an input voltage of 9 V to 16 V DC and a maximum current of 7.5 A with typical power consumption between 38 W and 44 W depending on usage. It measures 26.67 cm x 4.06 cm x 21.84 cm and weighs 1.588 kg. The device is designed for indoor use with an operating temperature range of 23 °C ± 5 °C and relative humidity from 10% to 90%.
