The National Instruments 782002-01 (VXI-8360LT) is a remote control module designed to extend VXI systems across multiple physical locations. The module conforms to the VXIbus Mainframe Extender Specification (VXI-6) and fits into a single VXI C-size slot. It is primarily used for interconnecting VXI systems over longer distances while maintaining reliable data transfer and synchronization. The device enables users to bridge VXI systems by linking them with a wired backplane trigger bus that allows for coordinated events between different systems.

The 782002-01 has the ability to support up to eight TTL backplane triggers. This allows the module to effectively synchronize events across multiple VXI systems through the front-panel trigger connectors. The trigger bus can accommodate up to six devices with a maximum of 20 meters of cabling. The daisy-chain topology used by the trigger bus offers flexibility in system design that enables the connection of multiple instruments across various locations.

It is designed for use in environments with an altitude limit of 2,000 meters and a temperature range of 0 to 55 °C during operation with storage capabilities from - 40 to 85 °C.

The front panel offers three key I/O connectors including the EXT CLK, TRIG IN and TRIG OUT connectors. Each serves a specific function for triggering and synchronization. The EXT CLK connector provides a 50-ohm source-terminated output. The TRIG IN and TRIG OUT connectors facilitate the input and output of trigger signals. This ensures smooth communication between devices within the system.

The 782002-01 device meets rigorous environmental and safety standards including IEC 61010-1 and it is tested for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) under EN 61326-1 and other relevant standards. This guarantees that the module won't interfere with other electrical devices and may be used securely in a range of industrial and laboratory settings.
