The VMEpc-650 is an Embedded Controller. The manufacturer of the VMEpc-650 Controller is National Instruments. This B-size Embedded Computer is a part of the VXI/VMEpc 600 Series. The NI VMEpc-650 is similar to the VXIpc-650 in functionality and features.
The VMEpc-650 can be installed in Slot 1 for complete System Controller functionality. Another option is to use the Embedded Controller in Non-Slot 1 mode. The NI VMEpc-650 automatically detects if it is in the System Controller slot and will then enable or disable the onboard Slot 1 circuitry. This Embedded Controller utilizes the MANTIS and MITE customized ASICs to provide high VME performance DMA block-mode data transfer rates across the VME backplane.
The VMEpc-650 is a fully PC-compatible controller. The VMEpc-650 is designed for VME systems. The NI VMEpc-650 has an integrated design offering several built-in features. Some of the prominent features are a 10/100BaseT Ethernet connector, an Ultra Wide SCSI connector, two RS-232 Serial connectors, a GPIB connector, and more. Moreover, this Controller also supports SuperVGA.
The VMEpc-650 Controller comes in two different versions. These versions are VMEpc-650/233 and VMEpc-650/166. The first controller has a processing speed of 233 MHz and the second has a processing speed of 166 MHz. The National Instruments VMEpc-650 has 32 MB of RAM and can store 128 MB maximum. The supported PC-compatible software for the VMEpc-650 are NI-VXI, NI-VISA, NI LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, and NI-488.2.
VMEpc-650 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the controller will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
