National Instruments 780998-01 Thermocouple Input Node for WSN.

The part number 780998-01 from National Instruments is the identifying part number for the WSN-3212 Thermocouple Input Node for WSN. This thermocouple module comprises 4 thermocouple input channels with a 24-bit delta sigma Analog to Digital Converter (ADC). It can measure voltage and temperature ranging from ±73 mV and –270 to 950 degrees Celsius. It features a very high level of 65 dB noise rejection at 50/60 Hz which ensures that temperature readings from thermocouples remain accurate and stable, even in environments with significant electrical noise. It also has a high input impedance of 20 MΩ that guarantees minimal loading effect on the thermocouple.

The 780998-01 Thermocouple Input Node has 4 bidirectional digital I/O channels that can be configured as Drive High Only, Drive Low Only, Drive High and Low, and Tristate. In tristate mode, the input voltage range is 0 to 30 V with a high level logical input voltage of 1.7 to 30 V and a low level logical input voltage of 0 to 0.45 V. The input current varies from –160 µA to 400 µA maximum. For digital output specifications, its total current value must be 0.5 A maximum for all channels with output voltage when sourcing must be less than (VDIO_PWR) -0.5 volts and an additional drop due to internal resistance (0.9 ohms multiplied by the output current, IOUT). When sinking current, the maximum output voltage is determined by the product of 0.9 ohms and IOUT.

Physically, this module weighs 242 g (8.5 oz) without an antenna and 256 g (9 oz) with an antenna. To operate this module, it must be worked at an ambient temperature of -40 degrees Celsius to 70 degrees Celsius and for storage, it must be stored at a suitable temperature of -40 degrees Celsius to 85 degrees Celsius with a humidity level of 10 to 90% RH, non-condensing.

The Thermocouple Input Node for WSN is manufactured to work under critical conditions with an operating shock of 30 g, 11 ms half-sine, 50 g, 3 ms half-sine, 18 shocks at 6 orientations, and has random operating vibration of 5 grms, 10 to 500 Hz with sinusoidal vibration of 5 g, 10 to 500 Hz.
