National Instruments 785808-01 Multifunction I/O Module

The National Instruments 785808-01 is a high performance multifunction I/O module designed for a wide array of data acquisition and control applications. The module is also known as the PXIe-6349. This module integrates analog I/O, digital I/O and four 32 bit counter/timers that support functions such as PWM, encoder operations, frequency measurement and event counting. 

The 785808-01 module provides reliable and precise data acquisition with its capability to handle simultaneous analog sampling across 32 differential input channels at a maximum rate of 500 kS/s. The analog input section includes a 16 bit ADC resolution that offers a high degree of accuracy with an input range selectable between ±1 V, ±2 V, ±5 V and ± 10 V. The module's input impedance and overvoltage protection features ensure stability and protect the device under varying conditions.

The analog output functionality of the 785808-01 features two channels each with 16 bit DAC resolution and capable of updating at rates up to 900 kS/s for a single channel. This section is designed for high speed, high accuracy signal generation with a comprehensive set of features including selectable output ranges, low output impedance and robust overdrive protection. It supports various waveform generation modes from non periodic waveforms to periodic waveform regeneration which is crucial for applications requiring continuous signal output or dynamic waveform adjustments.

The digital I/O section of this NI module comprises 24 channels which are individually programmable as inputs or outputs. The digital lines offer flexibility for timing signals and static digital I/O operations. The inclusion of waveform generation and acquisition capabilities on Port 0 along with programmable filters and debounce settings. The module also supports a wide range of triggering options with software selectable polarity and the ability to route triggers from various sources including internal and external signals.

The 785808-01 employs advanced NI-STC3 technology that features independent analog and digital timing engines. This enables complex timing configurations and retriggerable measurement tasks and enhances the module's utility in test automation and control systems. The module also includes a dedicated scatter gather DMA controller for each counter/timer that ensuring efficient data transfer and minimizes system latency.
