The National Instruments 785926-01 or PXIe-6386 Multifunction I/O Module is a simultaneous sampling multifunction data acquisition (DAQ) device. This module is designed for applications requiring high speed, high precision data measurement and analysis, such as IF digitization, ultrasound testing and high energy physics. It supports both analog and digital I/O with advanced triggering and timing capabilities. It is equipped with NI-STC3 technology for improved synchronization and timing. The module is particularly suited for telecom manufacturing tests like ISDN, ADSL and POTS.
The 785926-01 module features eight differential analog input channels with a 16 bit resolution. It has a maximum onboard sampling rate of 14.29 MS/s which can increase to 15 MS/s when using an external clock. Input ranges include ±1 V, ±2 V, ±5 V, and ±10 V along with a CMRR (Common Mode Rejection Ratio) of 70 dB. The module ensures high accuracy and low distortion with a total harmonic distortion (THD) as low as -100 dB depending on the input range. The overvoltage protection supports up to ±36 V while the module is powered on that ensures safe operation in various environments.
The NI 785926-01 module also provides two analog output channels each with a 16 bit resolution and a maximum simultaneous update rate of 3.3 MS/s. The output range is ±10 V or ±5 V with an external reference option via the APFI 0 port. The module’s output channels feature a low settling time of 2 µs and a slew rate of 20 V/µs. The outputs are protected against overdrive conditions with a limit of ±25 V and an output impedance of 0.4 Ω.
The multifunction I/O module offers 24 channels in terms of digital I/O, 8 of which are used for digital waveform generation and acquisition supporting sample clock frequencies up to 10 MHz. These channels are fully programmable for input or output and include built in protection with overvoltage support of up to ±20 V. Additional features include programmable debounce filters and digital line filters for precise digital signal control. The 785926-01 is equipped with four 32 bit counters for timing and counting tasks. Each is capable of handling advanced measurements such as edge counting, pulse width, period measurement and quadrature encoding. These counters are synchronized by internal and external clocks with base clock frequencies up to 100 MHz.
