National Instruments 785927-01 Multifunction I/O Module

The National Instruments 785927-01 (PXIe-6396) is a high performance multifunction I/O module designed for simultaneous sampling. It is suitable for a wide range of applications including telecommunications testing, ultrasound and sonar testing and high energy physics. This PXI Express module features advanced analog and digital I/O capabilities offering a total of 8 differential analog input channels with an 18-bit ADC resolution. The module supports a maximum sample rate of 14.29 MS/s with an onboard clock and up to 15 MS/s with an external clock. The analog input channels provide multiple input ranges (±1 V, ±2 V, ±5 V, ±10 V) with overvoltage protection of ±36 V when the device is on.

The module guarantees no missing codes with Differential Non-Linearity (DNL) and its high input impedance (>100 GΩ in parallel with 50 pF) ensures minimal loading on the measured signals. It also features a substantial input FIFO size accommodating up to 4096 samples per channel which is crucial for managing large datasets and ensuring smooth data transfers. The 785927-01 offers 2 analog output channels with a 16-bit DAC resolution that supports a maximum update rate of 3.3 MS/s for simultaneous output. The analog outputs can generate non periodic waveforms, periodic waveforms from onboard FIFO or even periodic waveforms with dynamic updates from the host buffer. The output channels feature a low output impedance (0.4 Ω) and are capable of driving up to ±5 mA. The module includes comprehensive overdrive protection of ±25 V and a fast settling time of 2 µs for full scale steps. 

The NI 785927-01 provides 24 digital channels for digital I/O that can be configurable individually as input or output. The digital lines are protected against input voltage spikes of up to ±20 V on up to two pins. The module supports waveform generation and acquisition with a dedicated FIFO for digital outputs and inputs.This multifunction I/O module also includes 4 general purpose 32-bit counters/timers. The counters are capable of various measurements and output applications such as pulse generation, frequency division and equivalent time sampling. These counters/timers are equipped with dedicated DMA controllers for efficient data transfers and support high speed operations with an internal base clock of up to 100 MHz.
