Spirent GX-1405B Ethernet SmartCard

The Spirent GX-1405B is a 1000Base-SX Ethernet SmartCard that is designed for high-speed Gigabit Ethernet traffic generation, monitoring, and capturing. It provides a single-port, multi-mode 850nm fiber interface and supports full-duplex operations compatible with IEEE 802.3z standards that enable the reliable testing of Gigabit Ethernet network backbones. GX-1405B achieves high-performance conformance and interoperability in Gigabit Ethernet network backbone integrity tests and traffic management. Besides, it can be equipped with up to ten SX-7410B 100 Mbps SmartCards for flexible upstream throughput testing in various topologies.

With enhanced packet generation functionality, the GX-1405B supports standard and complex traffic. The transmission in GX-1405B includes continuous, single burst, multi-burst, and echo modes for advanced traffic emulation and testing. Users can model real-world traffic conditions with features that provide control over inter-packet gaps and include background packet fill patterns. The SmartCard also supports several options to configure custom data field configurations, including incrementing, decrementing, or randomizing values within customer-specified byte sequences that greatly enhance the realism of traffics emulated.

The GX-1405B features powerful capture and monitoring with programmable triggers and counters on the receive side. This offers data capture against frames of different sizes, triggers to capture specific packet types, making it perfect in a deep packet inspection for error analysis. Extensive packet counters record the number of packets that have been transmitted correctly, as well as undersized packets, oversized frames, and error rates-all presented in either hexadecimal or decimal format to ensure accuracy in captured data.

Other features of the GX-1405B include flow control compatibility with pause commands to ensure that the traffic is well managed the moment the network gets congested. It has an autonegotiation capability that also supports startup protocols for efficient integration within the network, while latency measurement tools increase its value within performance benchmarking.

The SmartBits GX-1405B requires a SmartBits 200 or 2000 chassis and is a dual-slot solution for network engineers focused on high-density Ethernet testing. It supports software applications such as AST II, SmartApplications, and Spirent Connect to deliver support for a wide variety of test configurations that help ensure both network reliability and performance within enterprises and carriers.
