Spirent LAN-3301A TeraMetrics Module
 
The Spirent LAN-3301A TeraMetrics module is a copper-based Ethernet test system to check and validate the performance and compatibility of networking equipment. Operating at speeds of 10, 100, and 1000 Mbps, this module supports both 10Base-TX/100Base-TX and the IEEE 802.3z specifications, making it suitable for testing devices that span from Fast Ethernet to Gigabit Ethernet. The open architecture in LAN-3301A supports Network-to-Application Layer Testing, IP flow-based metrics-that form the backbone of QoS analysis for BGP, MPLS, VoIP, OSPF, and VLAN-enabled networks. This module emulates millions of client and server connections, providing per-flow metrics that explain how network devices behave under regular to high-stress conditions.

This module runs in a continuous, single-burst, and multi-burst mode of transmission, with an echo mode enabled; hence the users will configure the traffic generation to suit their test needs. It generates up to 512 independent IP streams, although it can analyze up to 64,000 streams; it tests networking devices at length, such as routers, switches, and even load balancers. Because of that fact, its unique stream-based traffic generation achieves wire-rate performance, creating up to 1,448,095 frames per second for heavy stress testing of systems.

With an advanced 16 MB capture buffer, the LAN-3301A can log and export filtered data for further protocol analysis. Besides, it supports programmable frame sizes from 40 to 16,384 bytes and manages diverse ranges of traffic types for different test scenarios, including unicast, broadcast, and multicast. Multiple Spirent applications such as SmartWindow, SmartLib, and SmartFlow are supported on the LAN-3301A, versatile for a wide range of network performance testing needs.

LAN-3301A, when used with the SMB-600 or SMB-6000B chassis, provides for system connectivity and supports easy setup. The module integrates traffic shaping and error testing functions such as latency analysis, frame loss, and sequence tracking that are essential in qualifying the resilience and efficiency of network devices during development assurance and final testing stages.
