The Spirent WN-3415 WAN T1 SmartMetrics SmartCard is a specific hardware tool for high-performance testing of WAN connections, especially fitted for applications on the T1 line at a rate of 1.544 Mbps. This single-port SmartCard is a member of the SmartBits product line and, by operating complex network analysis and frame-level testing, it tests multiple devices such as routers, switches, and Frame Relay or PPP access equipment. The WN-3415 card supports frame-level performance testing for Frame Relay networks and PPP links to make high-precision, end-to-end measurements of throughput and latency. The card communicates with the built-in interface by executing full line-rate tests, which allows up to 128 PVCs per port for Frame Relay, supports some critical protocols such as LMI, Annex A, and Annex D, and enables the authentication protocols like PPP-PAP and PPP-CHAP to secure and allow compatibility in the widest range of WAN architectures.
An integrated SmartWindow GUI simplifies test configurations such that testing of latency, packet loss, sequence tracking, and throughput analysis on individual devices up to large network environments is achievable by the user. Additionally, WN-3415 can also integrate with SmartLib API, which enables developers to implement automated test scripting using C, C++, or Tcl and is supported by ScriptCenter for sophisticated test automation configurations. The programmable interface allows detailed customization, hence enabling users to emulate very complex network conditions and refine performance measurements with fine granularity.
The WN-3415 provides layer 2 and layer 3 latency test for latency test. This feature can measure latency with up to 100-nanosecond granularity using a dedicated time signature field. It interoperates seamlessly with other SmartBits SmartCards and modules, thus ensuring consistency of test results across a wide variety of network conditions and device configurations. It also provides the capability to test raw packet data with the ability to track the sequence using comprehensive tagging, thus enhancing diagnostics and allowing individual data flows to be tracked.
