National Instruments 778823-01 Terminal Block

Part Number 778823-01 is the identifying part number for the National Instruments TB-2708 Terminal Block. This module consists of nine SMB connectors and a 14-pin I/O connector and directly connects to the front panel of the NI PXI-6115 and PXI-6120 devices, eliminating the need for an external cable. 

To use the 778823-01 with the NI PXI-6115 or the NI PXI-6120, you will need the installation manual for both devices and a Number 1 Philips screwdriver. To connect the terminal block to the I/O connector of the PXI module, first, you must install the PXI module into the chassis and tighten the two module screws. This must be done before connecting the terminal block. Then, the terminal block must be guided onto the PXI module connector and the screws must be tightened. Most importantly, you must not force the terminal block when inserting it into or removing it from the PXI module I/O connector.

The 778823-01 measures (4.2 × 3.4 × 0.8 in.) in physical dimensions and weighs 5.1 oz. It has multiple I/O connectors: a 68-position SCSI-II type female connector, 9 SMB jacks, and a Molex 14-pin microfit connector. The SMB connectors allow easy connections with analog input and output signals while the 14-pin I/O connector allows access to digital signals. To safely operate the 778823-01, you must not apply input voltages greater than 42 Vpk/60 VDC. Note that overvoltages can also cause electric shocks to the operator resulting in injuries. Likewise, since the connectors of the terminal block are sensitive to electrostatic discharge, the user must ground themselves before connecting or disconnecting signals. 

The 778823-01 is recommended for use between the temperatures of 0 to 55 °C at a relative humidity of 10% to 90%. On the other hand, it can be stored at a wider temperature range of –20 to 70 °C. Note that the module is meant for indoor use only and may require mounting inside a sealed enclosure for outdoor use. The module is designed to meet the requirements of the following safety standards: IEC 61010-1, EN 61010-1, UL 61010-1, and CSA 61010-1.
