NH Research NHR-4800 Compact Battery Cycler
The NHR-4800 Compact Battery Cycler was designed for use in 4U chassis for high-power battery testing and emulation. It delivers scalable power from 16.5kW to 165kW and can produce up to 80VDC and 400A. This device combines an amplifier, regenerative load, DC source, and battery emulation for power-level hardware-in-the-loop (PHIL) testing. Applications including propulsion testing, powertrain diagnostics, and EV rapid charging are perfect for the NHR-4800.
The NHR-4800 has reverse polarity checking, pre-charge circuitry, and integrated isolation contactor relays for dependable, safe operation. With a slew rate of less than 1.5 ms and a quick transient response, it employs SiC-based technology to provide accurate control during testing. With regenerative capacities above 90%, effective energy recovery is possible. The device is appropriate for use in research, validation, and production settings since it enables a broad variety of testing modes, such as charge/discharge, load, and battery simulation.
In order to simulate batteries and other bi-directional DC buses accurately, the battery emulation mode eliminates the requirement for real batteries during testing. To further increase its adaptability in a range of test scenarios, the system also has an integrated battery cycle profile controller that supports Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT), Sinusoidal on DC, and Arbitrary Profiles (XY and Macros).
In contrast to conventional power supply, the NHR-4800 provides a larger operational range. It maintains a steady power curve by automatically adjusting the output to produce higher current at lower voltages. This eliminates the constraints of a fixed voltage/current power curve and guarantees the unit's outstanding performance over a wide range of test conditions. An integrated touch panel or SCPI commands with LabVIEW or Python can be used to control the NHR-4800.
