National Instruments 780565-01 Digital I/O Adapter Module for FlexRIO
National Instruments part number 780565-01 is an identifying part number for the NI-6581, a Digital I/O Adapter Module for FlexRIO with 56 Digital Bidirectional Channels and 100 MHz Clock Rate. The NI 780565-01 Adapter Module can be used with an NI FlexRIO FPGA module for customized semiconductor testing, electronics testing, and implementation and testing of standard protocols like SPI and I2C, both as a master or slave. Users can configure the digital I/O lines as custom counters/clocks, pulse width modulation (PWM) channels, or communication buses for user-defined protocols or applications requiring serial triggering. Additionally, the module features onboard DRAM for optimized storage tasks.
This Module features two 68-pin VHDCI connectors on the front panel for connecting to external devices. It supports spring-terminal wiring for 20 to 26 AWG copper conductor wires, with 11 mm (0.43 in.) of insulation stripped from the end. The module requires an internal power source from the NI FlexRIO FPGA module, with power requirements of +3.3 V at a maximum of 200 mA and +12 V at a maximum of 250 mA. When paired with a PXI FPGA Module for FlexRIO, the NI 780565-01 transforms into a digital instrument capable of interfacing with 54 single-ended digital pins.
Users can leverage the NI-6581 to interface with standard protocols continuously and implement custom protocols as needed. The module supports digital test waveforms up to 100 MHz and accommodates typical TTL voltage levels, with the option to source other voltage references externally via a front-panel connector. At sampling rates up to 100 MHz, users can independently program the I/O banks on the NI 6581 module to perform read, write, or synchronization operations. The module supports logic levels of 1.8, 2.5, 3.3, or 5 V (TTL). Users have the flexibility to use an external source, such as a PXI programmable power supply, to set voltage references (1.8 to 5.5 V) for each connector individually, enabling customization of voltage levels as needed.
