National Instruments 785587-01 FlexRIO IF Transceiver Device

The National Instruments 785587-01 (PCle-5785) is a 2-Channel FlexRIO IF Transceiver Device. It is designed for wideband acquisition and generation applications that require multi-channel synchronization. This device delivers a maximum sample rate of 6.4 GS/s in single-channel mode and 3.2 GS/s per channel in dual-channel mode. This 785587-01 is suitable for radar, electronic warfare, and communication applications. The module supports 6 GHz of direct RF signal acquisition with a 12-bit resolution for high precision in signal processing. 

This 785587-01 comes with SMA connectors and a 50 Ω input impedance with AC coupling. It incorporates an internal sample clock running at 3.2 GHz and supports an external sample clock ranging from 2.8 GHz to 3.2 GHz. The ADC utilized in the ADC12DJ3200 offers a 12-bit resolution with an input latency of 239 ns. It assists in precise analog-to-digital conversion. The full-scale input range is 1.25 V peak-to-peak at 10 MHz.

The 785587-01 FlexRIO IF Transceiver device includes two single-ended channels with simultaneous updates as output. The channels are connected via SMA connectors. The device's DAC38RF82 also offers a 12-bit resolution and supports an update rate of 6.4 GS/s with 2x interpolation for both internal and external sample clocks. However, a noted silicon flaw in the DAC may cause a 50 mV glitch under certain conditions, but this is a rare occurrence with only a 0.5% chance.

The 785587-01 comes with a Kintex UltraScale KU035 reconfigurable FPGA. It includes onboard DRAM with a total memory size of 4 GB, which provides a theoretical maximum data rate of 17 GB/s. The module can be configured by the LabVIEW UltraScale FPGA module. 

The overall NI 785587-01 device measures 12.6 cm x 26.3 cm x 4 cm excluding the dimensions of connectors. The net weight of this FlexRIO IF transceiver is 990 grams. It features a standard height, three-quarter length, double-slot PCI Express Gen-3 x8 form factor and an integrated air mover for optimal thermal management. The device must be operated within a temperature range of 0 °C to 45 °C.
