National Instruments 788355-01 PXI FlexRIO GMSL3 Interface Module

The National Instruments 788355-01 is a FlexRIO GMSL3 interface module. It is designed for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving (AD) applications. This module is also identified as the PXIe-1489. This module features 4 x input channels that are equipped with MAX96792A deserializers. The channels offer support for both Tunneling and Pixel modes. The 788355-01 unit integrates the Analog Devices Gigabit Multimedia Serial Link™ (GMSL™) interface with a Xilinx KU11P FPGA.

The NI 788355-01 supports a CSI-2 interface with options for 1, 2, or 4 lanes. Each lane is capable of data rates ranging from 600 Mb/s to 2,500 Mb/s. The FPGA includes 21Mb of embedded block RAM and 60 DMA channels. Onboard DRAM features 4GB of memory split across two banks. Each bank operates with a 32-bit bus at 1064 MHz. The LabVIEW FPGA environment offers a DRAM clock rate of 267 MHz and a 256-bit bus width per bank that facilitates high-speed data transfers. This 788355-01 module is equipped with FAKRA Male Code Z coaxial connectors for input and output channels. It supports Power over Coax (PoC) with a voltage range of 6V to 32V and a maximum current of 800 mA per channel. The internal power supply provides a nominal 12V with a maximum current of 400 mA per channel. These features enable robust power delivery and data communication over coaxial cables which is critical for in-vehicle data logging and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing.

The 788355-01 interface module supports I²C configuration, I²C backchannel communication, and GPIO communication. The module’s physical dimensions are 21.6 cm x 2.0 cm x 13.0 cm and fits into a single-slot PXI Express form factor. It operates within a temperature range of 0°C to 55°C. This NI FlexRIO GMSL3 interface module includes diagnostic features for PoC current and voltage measurements along with current measurement accuracy between ±15% and ±20% depending on the range. The unit is designed to withstand operating vibration of 0.3 g RMS and shock of 30 g. The unit can be installed at the maximum altitude of 2000 MSL and weighs only 472 g (16.7 oz.).
