National Instruments 779670-01 PXI RF Analog Signal Generator
The National Instruments 779670-01 is a top-notch PXI RF Analog Signal Generator. It is also known as the PXI-5651. It offers a frequency range from 500 kHz to 3.3 GHz with high-resolution capabilities (less than 3 Hz for frequencies below 1.3 GHz and less than 6 Hz for those up to 3.3 GHz). The module features two loop bandwidth settings for frequency settling: narrow and wide. The narrow loop bandwidth provides median settling times of 6.5 ms at 0.01 ppm and 1.5 ms at 0.1 ppm. On the other hand, the wide loop bandwidth offers faster settling times of 1.0 ms at 0.01 ppm and 0.3 ms at 0.1 ppm. The internal reference clock of the 779670-01 module has an initial accuracy of ±3 ppm along with a temperature stability of ±1 ppm between 15 °C to 35 °C and an aging rate of ±5 ppm per year. It outputs a 10 MHz frequency at 1 Vpk-pk with a 50 Ω impedance. An external reference input also accepts 10 MHz signals within ±10 ppm along with amplitudes from 0.2 Vpk-pk to 1.5 Vpk-pk.
The NI 779670-01 offers excellent spectral purity by offering single sideband phase noise at 10 kHz offsets reaching as low as -125 dB/Hz at 100 MHz and up to -95 dB/Hz at 3 GHz. The residual FM is minimal along with RMS values of less than 0.8 Hz at 1 GHz and 1.5 Hz at 2.4 GHz. This RF Analog Signal Generator handles reverse power with RF tolerance up to 0.5 watts and DC up to 25 volts. It supports sine, triangle, and square waveform types for frequency modulation (FM) and it does not support external modulation sources. The 779670-01 requires DC power with a maximum current draw of 1.0 A at both +3.3 V and +12 V.
The NI 779670-01 module is designed to fit in a 3U, one-slot PXI module space. It measures only 2.0 cm x 13.0 cm x 21.6 cm and the overall weight of the module is 415 grams. It operates within 0 °C to 55 °C and can be stored between -40 °C to 70 °C. It is designed for maximum altitudes up to 2,000 meters and can withstand non-operational shocks and vibrations as specified by MIL-PRF-28800F standards. This 779670-01 module is compliant with various safety and EMC standards that include IEC 61010-1 and EN 61326-1.
