National Instruments 780560-01 FPGA Module for FlexRIO

The National Instruments 780560-01 (or PXI-7951R) is a high-performance FPGA module designed for FlexRIO systems. This FPGA uses Virtex-5 LX30 technology that offers robust computational resources with 19,200 LUTs/Flip-Flops, 1152 kbit of Block RAM, and 32 DSP48 slices. It features 132 general-purpose I/O lines, configurable as either 132 single-ended or 66 differential pairs. It offers versatile connectivity options for a range of applications.

Operating on a default timebase of 40 MHz, the 780560-01 supports timebase reference sources such as PXI 10 MHz (PXI_CLK10) with a timebase accuracy of ±100 ppm and 250 ps peak-to-peak jitter. It facilitates data transfers through DMA, interrupts, and programmed I/O while utilizing three DMA channels for efficient data handling. The module also includes onboard DRAM that is organized into two banks of 64 MB each along with a maximum theoretical data rate of 800 MB/s per bank.

Compatibility with various I/O standards (1.2V to 3.3V) ensures flexible interfacing with different peripheral devices. On the other hand, the PXI triggers, PXI_CLK10, and PXI star trigger offer extensive connection resources. The Ni 780560-01 module supports maximum I/O data rates of 400 Mb/s for single-ended and 1 Gb/s for differential signals along with global clock inputs of 1 LVTTL and 1 LVDS.
